Hi.

Thank you for your interest in Local Power. Here is a quick update:

The Buying Group offer
We are very pleased to report that 113 people have already signed up! This is already beyond the 50-100 people we said we would like to participate in this first buying group.

Thanks for your support and helping us make the buying group a success! We have been emailing out receipts for internet transfer deposits and cheque payments. For those who have signed up, make sure you have sent your deposit payment and all the supporting documents asap as required in Step 3 & 4 of the process.

Due to the fact that we are already over 100 signups, we will no longer be accepting any applications from postcodes with NO sign ups. In other words, this Buying Group is now only open to applications from home owners who live in postcodes that already have sign ups as listed on the Local Power website . You can see the signups so far at http://localpower.net.au/postcodes.htm

Please DO NOT signup if your postcode doesn’t already have at least 1 signup, and please don’t send us a deposit, as we will simply return it less the $22 admin fee, and we are sure you would prefer to keep that!

For active post codes, the buying group joining time will close on February 15th 2008, unless we are overwhelmed with sign ups before the week is up and need to close earlier. There will definitely be no extension beyond 15 February.

Media coverage
Local Power was very fortunate to be featured on ABC TV News last Friday night and also, due to the hard work of one of the buying group members, in the Southern Star newspaper this week - http://localpower.net.au/images/tss011.pdf  This had let to hundreds of more people on our email list.

Public meeting
Thanks to all the people who attended the public meeting and also to those who asked questions. We had to close rsvps when we got to around 200 to keep things manageable. It was good to meet many of you. We trust it was informative.
